5 of the Most Annoying Things About Tesla EVs

Loretta Smith February 25, 2023 Auto Leave a Comment

Tesla produces some of the most advanced electric vehicles on the market. Tesla not only makes incredible vehicles, but it has also built one of the best charging infrastructures in the world. Its vehicles are of high quality, premium, and extremely fast.

But not everything in Tesla Land is perfect. Tesla does some annoying things with its vehicles, as well as some odd interior design decisions, and you can even play access casinoscout casino through the display.

A Small Assortment of Paint Colors

Car manufacturers now offer stunning earth-toned paint jobs across their entire product lines. Other manufacturers finish their vehicles in a variety of daring matte shades. Unfortunately, when it comes to Tesla, there are few options.

Not only are the paint options limited, but the colours are also dull and uninteresting. This is unusual for a company that values innovation above all else. Another unusual feature is the pricing scheme for the few colour options available.

If you want a Model Y, the only colour available in Tesla’s online Model Y configurator is Pearl White Multi-Coat. If you want a different colour, such as Midnight Silver Metallic, you’ll have to pay $1,000.

If you want red on your Model Y, you’ll have to pay twice as much; it’s a $2,000 option. Why is red twice as expensive as white? You’ll have to ask Tesla. Things get even crazier when you get to the ultra-advanced Model X. Again, white is the only free colour option. Splurging on black will set you back $1,500, while red will set you back $2,500. It’s a strange pricing scheme for such a limited colour palette.

Touchscreen-Intensive Controls

Tesla is known for pushing the boundaries of technology even when it is not entirely necessary. The central touchscreen and the amount of functionality it holds are excellent examples of this.

Of course, this increases the vehicle’s versatility. On your Tesla’s central screen, you can even play games. Stuffing every control into the touchscreen, on the other hand, becomes overwhelming and can even lead to distraction as you search for a function that should have its own dedicated button, which makes it easy to access games https://www.casinoclic.com/fr/jeux-casino to play.

The steering wheel has controls for various functions, which are very useful, but it would be nice to see dedicated HVAC system buttons.

It would also be fantastic if Tesla could include a volume control dial. This dial could even be neatly integrated into the touchscreen, much like Ford’s Mach-E infotainment screen.

Insane Battery Replacement Costs

Although an electric vehicle’s powertrain is simpler than that of an internal combustion vehicle, this does not imply that the components are less expensive. In fact, batteries account for a significant portion of the total cost of an EV.

In the case of Tesla, replacing the batteries is extremely expensive. This is especially true for older Model S vehicles that are nearing the end of their battery warranty, potentially leaving owners on the hook for a battery that is worth as much as the vehicle itself.

Rich Rebuilds, a popular YouTuber, tweeted a photo of battery prices from Tesla’s Parts Catalog, and they’re as bad as you’d expect. On the EPC screenshot, the cost of a 75kWh battery was shown to be $17,500.

A 90kWh battery cost $21,000 to purchase. Obviously, EV battery failure is a frightening topic for many electric vehicle owners, and with prices like these, it’s easy to see why.

Multifunction Steering Wheel

Owners complained about the placement of the horn button on Tesla’s yoke steering device. Many of these complaints centred on the fact that pressing a small touch-sensitive “horn” button on the yoke in an emergency situation is not intuitive (or easy).

Elon Musk announced on Twitter that vehicles manufactured since November have the “push centre for horn” functionality.

Blinkers and high beams are two other controls that have been relegated to touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel. The high beams, in particular, appear out of place on the steering wheel, especially since the flash-to-pass functionality is inconvenient in a button format. We might see Virgil van dijk’s wife driving this in some weeks as he husband loves cars.

The Yoke

When it comes to the yoke’s touch-sensitive controls, many people find them annoying. Not only is the build quality questionable, but the unit’s functionality has also been called into question.

The shape is out of the ordinary and may not be the most comfortable to use in an emergency manoeuvre. Tesla has bowed to popular demand and now offers a round steering wheel option for its Model X and Model S flagship EVs.
